Drive to Balbala

The Health Unit goes out on field visits every Tuesday morning. We get a motor pool vehicle and hit the road to explore local community health resources. I always want to visit our nearest hospital and imaging facility, check out dentists and pediatricians. In my past 7 weeks we have pretty much covered the basics so this week we decided to drive out to Balbala, a "suburb" of Djiboutiville and visit Al Rahma - an Egyptian hospital. The hospital was great - very clean and modern and impressive.

The drive out to Balbala was so stark...I just wanted to take pictures the whole time. Its only about a 30 minute drive but ohh so different then "downtown Djiboutiville".

A subdivision being built - the driver of the car told us he had just bought a lot out here!

Don't CRUSH me! Had to laugh at this...an Egyptian Hospital so everything was in English and Arabic being staffed by people who speak French and Somali

Al Rahma means "Mercy" in Arabic
